Dave and I have just returned from the Cleveland Sewing & Quilting Expo.

I want to send a thank you out to all employed by the IX Center. What a wonderful and helpful group of people!

Another thanks goes out to Jim Suzio, former Viking Educator and teacher at Notions Commotion.

In case you were unable to attend, Jim showed folks at his class a wonderful new product called, "Rhinestones by the Yard". Rhinestones by the Yard is a new quick, hotfix embellishment. The rhinestones are on an easy-to-apply hotfix band. Cut the length you want and apply with a household iron. It's that Simple! It's washable, dry cleanable and can even be used on paper!

Mark Ingram with Original Sewing & Quilting Expo gave us several wonderful restaurants in the area to try. Turned the town into a winter wonderland, great for us Florida people. My favorite was Quince in Olmstead Falls Ohio in an area called Grand Pacific Junction. Quince is a restaurant that offers comfort food with a twist. Mac and Cheese which contained blue crab, shrimp and scallops and Lobster Bisque! Definately worth a return trip!

Our travels are not over - 2 weeks till the International Quilt Festival in Chicago Illinois! Hope to see you there!

We arrived home last Friday after a week in un-sunny California. Tired and very hopeful!

There was a ray of sunshine at the Winter Show in Anaheim and that was the demo by Roy Stevens with Kandi’s new Hot Wax Art Stylus and Handi Iron. Encaustic painting made easy. Roy is a renowned international artist and art instructor who took Kandi’s Hot Wax Art from Fine Art to FUN Art! From blank card to art masterpiece
in under 5 minutes! Kandi is offering 4 new kits to go along with the program with beeswax in 27 vibrant colors.

While the Wax demo station was mobbed, I had a chance to watch Kandi’s President and resident demonstrator Abby Riba show how easy it is to apply hot fix embellishments that just happened to be low lead, low cadmium and offered in 16 brilliant colors, the correct and easy way with Kandi’s Fire Wand.

Kandi also introduced three new products. Rhinestones by the Yard. Excellent grade of crystals on a color band. And they are also hot fix. They can be applied with Kandi’s Handi Iron or one of Kandi’s fine applicators. The next product in the line up was Zippers by the Yard available in 6 yummy colors. Can be applied on clothing, shoes, handbags, paper and more. Have you seen those expensive tops in your

Health and Child safety are a serious issue for everyone. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) mandated strict limits on the maximum amount of lead in anything produced for, or used by, children under the age of 12. This great hand-held tool replaces the small, travel type iron for melting wax to apply to paper or fabric It's so easy, even a beginner can create a masterpiece!

The Hot Wax Stylus has a great safety feature too, an on and off switch right in the handle, plus the design is ergonomically correct and is really comfortable in my hand. I can now create for hours!

I simply heat the Stylus for a couple of minutes. Once the Stylus is heated up I use Kandi's all natural Beeswax Pigments . I place the heated stylus tip on top of a block of Beeswax Pigment, sliding it around some or using one color on one end and another on the other end of the flat spade shaped surface, then apply it to a glossy finish paper. The designs create themselves! Awesome. No thinking, just playing. When lifting the tip,(the set comes with a large spade, a brush tip, calligraphic tip and a cleaning brush) the most unusual designs appear, like magic.

Quilt Festival 2007

Quilt Festival Houston, Texas 2007 is over. What a great time and such a wonderful experience. There are no words for how amazing some quilts were. The time and effort put into creating such a piece of art was breathtaking. There were many quilts that had hotfix crystals embellished on them. The shine and sparkle that come from the crystals make the quilt have an extra spark and look that make it look much more beautiful and special. Now I really want to put crystals on everything.

At Quilt Festival, I attended the Bernina Fashion Show. Diamond Odyssey, the 2007 edition of the Bernina Fashion Show, was a colorful runway show of exquisite design, mastery of the sewing arts, and unique embellishments. Kandi Corp congratulates Starr Hagenbring and Judith Baer, winners of the Crème de la Crème and Viewers Choice awards, respectively. For the fifth year in a row, both awards were given to designers who incorporated Kandi embellishments in their garments. For 2007, over 2/3 of the designers in the Bernina Fashion Show selected Kandi embellishments for the perfect finish to their runway entries. Kandi Corp has been selected to provide high fashion embellishments to the designers selected for the 2008 Bernina Fashion Show, Rendezvous. Looking forward to next year!

Welcome to the Kandi Corp blog! You're probably thinking what is Kandi Corp? Well, let me tell you. Kandi Corp imports, packages, and distributes an extensive selection of crystals, pearls, nailheads, and rhinestuds. Our product focus is pre-glued ready to apply embellishments, commonly called hot-fix iron ons. We also manufacture several Applicator Wands which have been specifically designed to apply these items to a wide variety of surfaces. While the products were originally intended solely for the world of high fashion, we have seen a surge of interest in them from many different crafting interests.

Our retail product packages are produced under three labels -- Kandi^®, L' Orna^® and Crystal Crafter^®. The Kand^® line is our general purpose line. L' Orn^® is reserved for the bridal market, boutiques, and specialty retailers and Crystal Crafter^® is geared toward fun, at-home craft projects.
